November 18th and 19th
Our next major event is our Friendsgiving Social on Saturday, November 18th at 5:00 p.m. It will also be the kickoff of our Giving Tree Project which provides children in need with Christmas presents, who are from our parish, through our St. Vincent de Paul Society or who are from our neighborhood through University Settlement.
If you are reading this bulletin online, we are in need of volunteers to help us decorate our parish garden for Christmas. Please come to the garden on Saturday morning, November 18th at 10:00 a.m. Also, we are in need of volunteers to assist us in passing out food to the needy at the Ozanam Center on the grounds of Holy Name from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 18th. Please call the rectory at 216-641-8444 ext 10, if you are able to help.
Looking further ahead, we will celebrate our Thanksgiving Day Mass on Thursday, November 23rd at 9:00 a.m. People are invited to bring in nonperishable food items and paper products and place them on St. Joseph’s Table by the St. Joseph’s altar or on the steps around the altar. People come to the rectory and ask for food. Your generosity enables us to feed the hungry.
Thank you for your support of our Parish St. Vincent DePaul Society. Since October 1st, 2022 to the present, we have passed out 574 bags of food to 287 families. Also through your financial contributions to St. Vincent DePaul we passed out gift cards for Thanksgiving to 21 families (72 individuals). You can always write out a check to St. Vincent DePaul and place it in the offertory basket or mail your check to the rectory if you wish to help us out in this important ministry.
We are grateful to have an active group of rosary makers in our parish. Please review the enclosed report. If you wish to assist us in this ministry with a donation, you may write out a check to St. John Nepomucene Rosary Makers and place it in the offertory basket or mail it to the rectory.
Advent is around the corner. We will have our Advent Communal Penance Service on Monday, December 4th at 7:00 p.m. We will have an Advent Presentation in our parish hall on Sunday, December 3rd at 11:15 a.m.
I hope to see many of you at our Friendsgiving Social at 5:00 p.m. this Saturday, November 18th and I look forward to seeing many of you at our Thanksgiving Day Mass on Thursday, November 23rd at 9:00 a.m.
During the month of November, let us remember, give thanks and share our blessings. I give thanks to God for all of you and for your support of our parish and our ministries.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Gratefully,
Fr. Jasany
